The Belgians In Canada series allows Belgian Canadian Business Chamber (BCBC) members to share the key elements of their success.
In addition to the immediate benefits of the presentation, the goal is to foster an exchange of ideas and mutually-beneficial assistance between Belgian and Canadian organizations.

Melissa is an established entrepreneur with business ventures in the tourism and trade industries. In addition, Melissa is a Senior Area Manager at Sterling-Turner Corporation, an organization focussed on developing business solutions to its clients. Melissa shares her expertise in business strategy, research and funding solutions for new and established businesses in Canada.
Melissa graduated with a Bachelor’s of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and holds both the Chartered Accountant (C.A.) and Certified Management Accountant (C.M.A.) designations.

LarryLall  Larry Lall “Mindset Transformation: A personal and corporate challenge – uncovering the hidden elements”

Larry is a dynamic out of the box thinker who is a speaker, writer and consultant. He has worked in Information Technology and Management/Leadership fields in both the public and private sectors here in Canada. He has also worked internationally in USA, Brazil, Korea and Kuwait. His primary focus today is to utilize his experience and information he’s developed in his upcoming book Strategic Strategy: How to deal with Permanent and Dramatic Change to help transform people and organizations. Larry uses the concepts of Mindset, Experience, Core and Creed to help individuals and organizations understand and take action to become great, stay great and become greater. Larry also uses his vast experience and the information he’s gathered in writing his book to help improve corporation’s business operations. He is focused on optimizing services while reducing costs and transforming the mindset of each individual within the organization and hence the organization itself.

Over and above the work and time they put into their roles at SickKids, Dr. Luc Mertens (originally from Belgium, and a member of the BCBC) and Dr. Barbara Cifra have volunteered to take on a new challenge – hosting a fundraiser in support of the Echocardiography Lab at SickKids. Promising to be an unforgettable experience, Hope for Hearts Gala will include a delicious dinner, abundant silent and live auctions, as well as great performances and special guests.
